David Rankine is an author, researcher, Qabalist and magician who lives & works in Monmouthshire (Wales) with his partner, Sorita D'Este. In addition to being a contributor to this website, David has been writing and contributing articles to a variety of publications and has given talks, lectures and workshops since the early 1980's.

His personal passions include the Qabalah, Medieval & Renaissance Magick, Heka (Egyptian Magick), Thelema and Witchcraft. David also has a thing for Crystals and their use in magick since men emerged from the caves wearing their first bits of occult jewellery, but stresses "Sadly this subject has been largely hijacked by people with their heads in the clouds, which is fine as long as you have your feet on the earth, which is where the crystals are! (Well apart from meteorites, but that's another story altogether!)".

Since 2003 David has been working with occult scholar Stephen Skinner in producing this highly acclaimed series of books which is making available for the first time previously unpublished manuscripts and grimoires. Titles in the series to date include:

In addition to the books listed above, David has also contributed to a number of journals, books and magazines over the years. These include Hekate Keys to the Crossroads and esoteric / occult publications such as The Watkins Review, Witchcraft & Wicca (CoA), Pagan Dawn (PF), Talking Stick Magazine, Nuit-Isis, Scoob Occult Review, Celtic Dawn, Chaos International, Evohe! and Dragon's Brew. In fact, David was the editor of Evohe! (1986-1988) and Dragon's Brew (1991-1996). David also contributed to 'Howlings' (2008) published by Scarlet Imprint.

During 2002-2004 he additionally contributed around 300 articles to the international "Enhancing your Mind Body Spirit" part-work magazine produced by D'Agostini. His contributions to this very successful publication which was distributed worldwide included articles and in some instances entire sections on Crystals, Healing, Chakras, Qabalah, Shamanism, Egyptian Spirituality, Alchemy and Angels.


Since the early 1980's David has facilitated many dozens of workshops and public ceremonies throughout the UK, since 2001 often with Sorita. He has also given lectures and presentations throughout the UK and Europe on his work and the subjects he is passionate about - including the Grimoire Traditions, Angelic Magic, Crystals, Egyptian and Celtic mythology and spirituality.

David has appeared on many television and radio programs over the years, his work and interviews with him has featured in numerous publications and programs over the years. More recently he has been interviewed for "That's Weird" on Glastonbury Radio about the Qabalah (1 hour program, syndicated worldwide) and BBC Radio London on the Tarot and also Dr. Rudd's Goetia. He has featured on television programs on Chanel V, ITV, BBC and Sky.
